The Moon and I

by mermaids

I look up at the moon

as he laughs at me
such a sad human
to see

his face shows
a wide grin
he invites me
on a journey

come hither
he calls
I walk along
a forest lit
up by his light

tiny blue fairies
fly around me
one lands on
my hand

the moon speaks
a friend for you
smile at her
she welcomes
you

onward in moonlight
a unicorn appears
his horn is gold
I sit on his back
we trot along

soft whispers in
cool breezes
light in the darkness
fairy and unicorn
create melodies
of joy

as the forest ends
we meet the sea
where a merman
reclining on sea-worn
rocks waves to me

the moon gives a
hearty laugh
matchmaker he is
I sit with my
ocean man

we talk, we sing
we swim at sunrise
the moon fades
but my new world
remains
