A poem about temptation, what it is, and if it is truly bad.

What is Temptation?

by Skyler Saige

Temptation is a part of us all.
Temptation is within each and every one of us, and there are emotions fueled by this desire.
Temptation to give our bodies to another, wanton for mutual pleasure… Lust.
Temptation to have the equity or qualities that others have… Envy.
Temptation to believe in the dangers of our surroundings… Fear.
Temptation to succumb to the rage which fills us in heated moments… Anger.
Temptation creates us in different forms.
Temptation is viewed as sin.
Temptation that sprouts from within.
Temptation which began in the Garden of Eden.
Temptation, internal and external—though should it be viewed as bad?
Temptation is perhaps simply the urge to stay safe while expanding our horizons.
Temptation is perhaps the drive to be ourselves while conforming to societal norms.
Temptation may very well be the name we give to the craving for something outside of our usual bubble.
Temptation may not be all trouble.
