A 75 word story
Country Dreams
by RodG
“Who you pinin’ fer today, Joey?” Pa asked.
We were on a hill ‘preciatin’ the sun and birds egg blue sky.
While he napped, I plucked petals from many daisies .
“Sally Beckforth.”
“Seth’s purty daughter o’er in the hollow?”
“Yep.”
“You could be catchin’ dinner in the creek yonder. Might have more luck.”
“‘Spose so.”
Pa elbowed himself upwards and grinned. “But a boy’s gotta dream. I got lucky twice. First your ma . . . then you.”
