How will I survive alone?

Alone

by Jodi Ann Anderson

The barren walls reflect gray skies,
As I stare, my hands reach,
Feeling nothing, but my own cold skin,
Forming thoughts with trapped words in the deafening silence.

Sorrowed tears escape fiercely like burning sand from raw eyes,
Swallowed up in a murky, lonely sea of despair,
I sink, struggle to breathe.

Screams echo,
Unheard.
