"Next case!” James Groves bellowed from the bench.
He groaned upon seeing his daughter, handcuffed, led to the stand. Only in this town could a judge hear his daughter’s case.
He cleared his throat and asked, “Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon? On your husband?”
“Dad—Your Honor, he asked for it!”
“Approach.” The bailiff led Lisa over.
“Daddy,” Lisa whispered, “he deserved it. He’s lucky I only shot his foot.”
“Did you think of walking away?”
“But, Daddy, he said I sounded like Momma!”
“What’s wrong with that?”
“He said it during sex!”
James’ face turned red. “Case dismissed!”
