There comes a time to say goodbye...

I'll Always Miss You

by zaraduck6

I miss you, Tilly

I really do

You taught me so much

I taught you so few

Remember that year?

In our sixth grade

You taught me card games

We played and played

That was us before

So young and naive

But to this day

I still grieve

As long as I live

I’ll never forget

That end-of-year fight

I’ll always regret

Seventh grade came

We drifted apart

Smiling in the halls

But conversation would not start

We lost all touch

The very next year

You would text

But I failed to adhere

Then came that fateful day

A sunny March afternoon

When a car slammed into yours

And you were gone so soon

I remember a time

When we were best friends

But on that day, in that wreck

You met your very end

I’ll always remember us

Playing around willy-nilly

But comes a time to say goodbye

I’ll always miss you, Tilly

Sad Poems writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Sadness has overcome us all at one time or another. Either caused by a relative or close friend's death or from the girl or guy that broke our heart or just life in general. We all handle situations differently, some good, some bad. This contest gives us the ability to explore this. Your poem can also play into other emotions that are common to writing like this such as anger or depression.

This is a poem about a friend I lost recently. She was truly one of my best friends, but we drifted apart, and the guilt of never trying harder to rekindle our friendship still weighs me down. I'll always miss her, but there always comes a time to say goodbye.
