Self-preserving denial.
Crash, bang, wallop!
by Terry Reilly
Paddy's donkey cart jogged gently along.
The SUV sweeping round the bend had no chance to stop.
CRASH!
Paddy and his ass flew through the air, landing together in the ditch. The cart was matchwood.
A tall cowboy left the car, approaching the ditch.
"Gee, this is terrible."
The cowboy aimed his colt 45 and put the donkey out of its misery.
Turning to Paddy:
"So sorry. How are you?"
"Sure, I never felt better."
