Dreaming of your love

The Shadows of Day

by poetwatch

Separated from the one I love,
I wallow in water waist high,
drowning in a sea of tears.
My companion is the sky.

My limbs are feeling weak,
my roots feel rotten to the bone.
I reach out and touch only air,
there is nothing. I'm so alone.

I hear a whisper in the wind,
"I love you," it seems to say.
I try to move, but cannot.
I'm stuck in the shadows of day.

I'm alone, but still see you, love,
and dream of having you near.
Yet, it is only a dream,
but... one day, I'll hold you, my dear.
