Young Man's Dream

by Wils

I like to dream I'm there at the wicket
Facing the fastest bowler that there's been
I send his ball flying 'cos that's cricket
Straight out of the ground, never again seen

Those six runs have brought up my one hundred
Century maker and there's more to come
Fielding team can only stare and wonder
How was it that I scored that princely sum

Bowler runs in bowling me a fast one
Right at the toes, my middle stump does fly
How I wish it was that my team had won
This young man's cricket dream will never die
