Will I know love again?

Saying Good-Bye

by jim vecchio

She appeared in spring, the autumn of my life
and brought to my heart undreamt-of hope
and our love flourished
till the spring flowers crumbled
and the summer beyond my dreams
crumbled also
as she went away

I’d send my love in a letter
but that’s just so many words
and by now she’s forgotten me
and the lips I long to taste
now belong to another

When autumn returns
I pray love also will appear
I’m a fool to think she’ll remember
but this old fool wants to relive
just one moment of her love
