Conversation with FanStory about Kyrielle

A format That's NEW

by Cakes and Cartwheels soul of JOY

Each line has eight syllables, right?

YES. That’s four times two. You’ll bite?

Every line I get to invent?

YES. That’s TRUE…(If that’s your bent)

Well then; Okay. I’m up for that!

Here’s to ME - The Cat in the Hat!

Every line I get to invent.

The Cat in the Hat. Heaven sent.

I write poems. Daily. For sure

People read them, they endure

Every line I get to invent

Ever repeating what I meant…

YES. I get it. You like to rhyme!

I can do it. I am sublime!

Had enough? Exhausted? you Spent?

Every line I get to invent!

Every line I get to invent.

EIGHT. Just count them. Every last cent.

Four times two - whatever you do

You just learned a format that’s NEW!

Write a Kyrielle writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
A kyrielle is made of quatrains (four lines) that rhyme (any rhyme scheme can be used). Each stanza (quatrain) has a line that repeats from the previous stanza. That line is usually the last line in the stanza, but it does not have to be. Each line is made up of eight syllables. There is no limit to the number of stanzas. A Kyrielle is usually made up of three or more stanzas. For this prompt, a minimum of three stanzas is required.

The debate in my head was whether EVERY was two or three syllables... I consistently acted as if it were TWO. I hope you will TOO!
