Don't Believe All!

Media Madness

by howard11

The author has placed a warning on this post for language.

I  really hate repeatedly being lied to, and being called names by strangers. My displeasure grows if those disrespectful words target a group that includes me.

This must stop! Catch-all labeling of select groups is patently absurd, asinine, and inherently dangerous. See history.

I was in Vietnam when John Kerry told legislators that U.S. Army 'baby killers' were busy committing atrocities in Southeast Asia. Nearly 50 years later, his friend and then candidate, Hillary Clinton, labeled me, and millions others, 'deplorables'.

That's me: A deplorable baby killer.

More recently, retired TV personage, Katie Couric, explained that conservatives suffer from ignorance, class resentment, and anti-intellectualism.

Have I wasted my life? I don't deny 'preachy' arrogance irritates me. But must my gravestone highlight my time on Earth as an ignorant deplorable baby killer who resented elites and intellectuals?

Couric's broadcast buddies... easily America's most accomplished liars... daily talk and write about a MAGA 'cult' of conservatives.

Now, I'm a  cultist? This is merely vile broadcast buffoonery. Granted, I do ocassionally enjoy a cool glass of Kool-Aid, preferably black cherry.

I recognize "Freedom of speech" is essential to maintain a free society. Equally essential, "Freedom of the press" must fairly provide citizens accurate facts to aid them in making decisions.

Good reporting is simple. Five Ws (who, what, when, where, why) and H (how). These story basics are sufficient to fulfill the requirements of a 'free press'... But only if they are presented truthfully with an absence of slant or opinion.

Importantly, by law, the government may not control nor restrict our free press. However, the press contaminates itself when it chooses to partner-up and become the government's whore.

The current administration has many prostituted talking heads, daily spewing propaganda meant to shape and reshape public thought. Recall Hitler's mouthpiece, Joseph Goebels: "If you repeat a lie often enough it is accepted as truth."

Five Ws and H mean nothing to today's media. They name call and lie all the time.  Their practiced dishonesty includes replacing actual facts with mistruths, creative editing, and recycling so-called experts previously proven wrong.

Our media has become Orwell's 1984 'Ministry of Truth', working to erase the truth, past and present... Replacing those truths with whatever the 'party' deems correct. Today, that's the Democratic party.

Two weeks after 22 years in military intelligence, armed with a degree in Mass Communications, I became a police reporter for a local paper. Eight years later, I left as city editor to begin teaching. My journalistic lesson learned: Non-bias reporting is good and dishonest reporting is an evil threat to a free society's survival.

Both 'RussiaGate' collusion and 'Laptop' denial are prime examples of pseudo journalism created in conjunction with one party's wishes. The administration and its media minions spread steaming bullshit to cover the stink of crooked government.

Last week, the president said most people don't understand the border. By now, we know he lies on the rare days he bothers to talk to citizens. His lying is made easy by a media chorus.

Remember, "When people don't tell you the truth, what they really are saying is that they don't value you." (Shannon L. Alder)

The American media is loaded with overpaid snarky frauds who look down on the average person and believe at least half the country is way too dumb to make 'any' individual decision.

Still, I'm pretty sure most deplorables know what a border is, and its purpose. I do. In the late 1970s, I worked surveillance of the East-West Germany border... Security against invasion.

Before my newspaper days, my first serious writing job was in Vietnam, where I wrote intelligence reports. Reports had to be clear, concise, and timely. They had to be, because life and death were in the balance.

Now, I'm concerned about the future of the country I eagerly served in uniform.

For those in the media now serving as propaganda outlets; and those in political power who are trying to change America into another mediocre European-like social democracy: A final quote, 'I don't tolerate liars, I'm a nice person... not a stupid one'.

There are millions of us conservatives out here!
