My Comfort Things

Raindrops on noses and newly boiled kettles
some words of kindness to strengthen your mettle
brown paper packages what good are they?
When plastic bags are convenient today

Crumpets for breakfast and pizza for dinner
some folk suggest l am not getting thinner
wild dreams that fly from east to west
yet friends tell me that I am so blessed

When the cold bites or the phone rings
When I ache so bad
I simply reach for the empty wine glass
and fill it up... a tad

Take a well-known song and replace the original rhyming lyrics with your own. Rhyming is required, the original meter should be preserved, but no other restrictions apply.
