The King of Fruit with an unmistakable odour

Durian

by Terry Reilly

Marmite

Fruit, thorny rind,

with red or golden flesh

which tastes divine but smells like Old

Nick's breath.

Summer Fruit writing prompt entry
Writing Prompt
Write a Cinquain poem (2-4-6-8-2) about a summer fruit. Funny, sad, mouth-watering, whatever you like.

This Asian fruit is probably the most delicious I have eaten. Unfortunately, the flesh has a very strong lingering sulphurous odour reminiscent of rotting meat. Many oriental taxi drivers ban them from their vehicles and have a sticker on the windscreen with a picture of a durian traversed by a diagonal red line.
Old Nick: a folk name for the Devil.
