I'm Just Little

by Verna Cole Mitchell

I do not want to go to bed -
Grumble, grumble, grumble.
I'd rather climb on top and jump!
Tumble, tumble, tumble.

I do not want to sit real still -
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle.
I'd rather laugh and make some noise -
Giggle, giggle, giggle.

I do not want to eat green peas -
Yucky, yucky, yucky.
I'd rather eat ice cream and cake -
Yummy, yummy, yummy.

I do not want to wear clean clothes -
Dressy, dressy, dressy.
I'd rather play outside in mud -
Messy, messy, messy.

I'm just little - don't you see?
This is how I like to be!
