Spiffy Up

by Stu Harrell

Spiffy up dear little ones
Peek an eye toward the day
Shake a fist at snarling gloom
Be feisty on your way

Needn't be all tough and toothy
For all that's said and done
Often close enough is good enough
Soak up the happy sun

Reach up to touch the fading stars
Whistle up a pearly tune
Stick up for all your classmates
They'll be in your camp soon

The world can be confusing
But stalwart you can be
Try out for stuff, give it a go
Keep at it..not a bended knee

Don't let little stumbles
Sting you like a bee
Think of all the pretty girls
That said flatly no to me

Giggle out a light tune daily
Poke your tummy too
Dream up a fancy pony
The whole world waits for you

Sniff a pretty flower
Dance around with the honey bees
High above the clouds are racing
To pour down on the Kansas trees

Snuggle up between the raindrops
Eat an apple to the core
For when all is said and done
Two and Two still equals four
