Summer Days

by gansach

Carefree days that were filled with fun,
plenty of time to play and run,
out of doors from dawn until dusk,
streetlights called us home.

Plenty of friends with bikes to ride,
only rain could keep us inside.
Summer seemed to last forever,
never felt alone.

Church festivals and picnic days,
hopscotch, hide 'n' seek, cowboy craze,
lemonade, Fizzies, popsicles,
frosty ice cream cone.

Drive-in movies, campouts at night,
fireworks burst, a beautiful sight,
swimming and fishing were the best.
Great times I have known.

Looking back, those days meant so much;
all drifted away, out of touch.
I wish I could re-live them now,
mem'ries all my own.
