Background
postapocalyptic medieval setting. In the fictional land of Arrs an unknown black mist has taken over the bodies of humans. They become known as the tainted.
I slept for a couple hours before I was called down to eat. The meal before us was a feast I could only imagine. Jer was indeed a young master. I wanted to stuff my face with as much food as possible but I reigned in the impulse. I still had some pride and some table manners. Cutlery. Cutlery exists for a reason...ahhh but why?! haaaaaaah. If Dave is using cutlery with those giant bear paws so must I. So I reached for my fork and knife and began eating like a civilized human. I felt a gaze on me and noticed that Demi was staring at me. I ignored him. Let him stare. I love food and it loves me.

Jer informed us that all the supplies were gathered. We decided to take a horse and buggy so we didn't have to carry everything. Derek offered to drive and Dave sat up front to keep him company. The rest of us piled into the buggy with the supplies. I'm just happy to conserve energy. That bed was amazing but two hours of sleep wasn't enough. I had dessert so I guess that makes up for something.

We stopped just outside the village where we before. We setup a fire to keep the mist away and began organizing and unloading weapons. We had a mini arsenal in case something unexpected happened and tying our weapons to ourselves didn't work.

I chose a dagger instead of a sword. Brandy chose a dagger which she hid in her boot. Then she grabbed canteens filled with oil and hooked them to her belt. Jer took a sword and multiple flares while Demi opted for a long sword. Derek chose a sword and...a morning star. I'm not sure where that came from but I'm not going to ask. Dave had his freshly sharpened sword and wasn't interested in anything else. Derek convinced him to wear brass knuckles. At this point I'm wondering what type of business Jer's family is into. Jer must have noticed my gaze because he looked pointedly at Brandy. She said one word, "pirates".

I guess Demi's info was legit. By this time the sun was starting to set. We paired up and got ready to execute the plan. This time, we all entered the village together. Once again, in the centre of the village, was the mutant. He was looking his pristine mutanty self, fully healed, like nothing at all had happened.
