A poem about Glaucoma
A reflection of Glaucoma
A silent battle rages on,
A relentless fight that none can see.
The world fades into a hazy blur,
As glaucoma clouds my desperate plea.
We all have heard its haunting name,
This merciless thief of precious sight.
Yet each of us, we face it differently,
Our understandings a unique, fragile light.
Some days the agonizing pressure builds,
Crushing my eyes with unbearable pain.
The fear takes hold, a leaden weight,
Before the encroaching darkness reigns.
Other times, a brief, fleeting respite,
A glimmer of clarity before it fades.
But still the relentless, creeping gloom,
The shadows that steadily invade.
But still I fight, with every fiber of my being,
To keep this cruel scourge at bay.
For though the world may not behold my private strife,
I'll face it head-on, come what may.
This is my solitary journey, mine alone,
A burden that I steadfastly bear.
Yet in the shadows, I find my innermost strength,
A resilience beyond mortal compare.
So onward I trudge, through glaucoma's thick veil,
My vision ever-changing, ever-frail.
But with each step, I grow more resolute,
This fight, this war, I will not lose.
