Gina Perez and I were competing for the same Executive Vice President position at our company.
We decided to meet and have dinner the night before the Board’s decision.
“Gina, no matter who wins, I respect you and will support you if you should win.”
“Robert, that is so genuinely you. I appreciate that and will do the same. Let’s toast to each other. Here’s to the winner.”
Handing me a Scotch, I took a drink, noticing she put hers on the table.
“I’m sorry Robert, I lied. I’m going to win, because you‘ll be dead before the Board votes.”
