Joseph watched the confessional box.
The light came on above the curtain.The middle-aged man shuffled forwards, checking the name beneath the glow. Fr. Burns. Yes.
Joseph entered, knelt.
"Confess, sinner" from behind the canvas screen.
"It's your sins I confront" wept Joseph, hyperventilating.
"You repeatedly sodomized my son. He requires indefinite Psychiatric care."
Silence.
"The Law admonished you. Your Order protected you. I claim righteous retribution."
Wielding the carving knife, Joseph lunged at the shadow behind the fragile screen.
The young face, exposed, screamed and gushed blood.
A trainee priest!
"Father Burns, help me!"
Despairing, Joseph fell upon his knife.
