Rainstorm Memory

by HarryT

Angry clouds spat pelting rain. Jack sat in his car. The deluge brought a memory outside Susie’s house. Rain so heavy, he  could barely see through the windshield. Down her porch steps, Susie came running, barefoot with an umbrella and raincoat. Jack opened the car door, and they ran together up the porch stairs and into her living room. She kissed him and unbuttoned her raincoat. She was naked. The memory faded as quickly as a streak of lightning. But Jack sat, tears forming. The rain stopped, as did his dream of their life together when she returned his ring.
