You said I would never have to see your face again, but there it was—that unforgettable smug face. Years of therapy couldn't undo what you did to me. Your reflection stirred something inside of me.
It was involuntary, like watching a movie; I didn't realize the actions were mine, but they were. My fingers gripped the steak knife in my hand as I rose. Screaming, I ran across the restaurant, plunging the knife into that face over and over again.
It was only after I realized it was your son. Karma has a way of making the world right again.
