An Ocean of Dreams

I sail through an ocean of dreams
As I meditate on poetic themes
Half asleep, half awake it seems
Floating around verses and rhyme schemes

Stars overhead twinkling
Light my way, keeping my ship from sinking
In the distance, I see looming rocks
Moonlight shines on sandy docks

Deep-blue waves soar
While thundering breakers roar
Pinkish-gray clouds hover in suspended animation
All part of divine creation

You and I are borne along by the powerful sea
There is an ocean of dreams between you and me

I always feel like the sea, sometimes I'm calm, at other times I'm raging, and I feel buoyed up by my verses and rhymes, like a ship sailing on the ocean. Thanks to Dimitris Vetsikas from Pixabay
