What if the sky is its own?

And it uses the clouds

to paint what it’s seen

telling us stories from history

or revealing its dreams

trying so badly to connect to you or me

or anybody noticing

What if the sky had a home?

And like a mother it creates ours while her own

she’s quietly missing

What if the sky absorbs everything that’s been set free

And what we let go of adds to the clouds until they’re weighed down

and the raindrops that fall aren’t just drops at all

What if it’s our tears that knock 

on our windows and walls?

A message from the sky

to be let inside

A cycle to remind 

us to feel

What if the sky is lonely 

even though we’re here?
