I'm hard to know
Fleeting
He told me that he loves me
I told him it’ll pass
I’m easy enough to fall for
But it don’t ever last
I’m a pretty face to pass the time
Or a brain that’s ripe for pickin’
But the moment that you say hello
Starts the clock to tickin’
Cause I’m more than just a silhouette
Or feet to fill some shoes
My gut’s a fire that burns too bright
With a heart that’s prone to bruise
Despite what you may think at first
There’s depth behind my eyes
And regardless if it’s yours or mine
A pain to be realized
I once thought that happiness
Would be something I’d wear well
But when I tried it on for size
My reflection broke the spell
Now I hide all by myself
In my shelter built of straw
Where in private I can lick my wounds
Keep ‘em bloody and raw
