When a teardrop doesn’t douse the flame

I turn to Hades for guidance

who instigates the ebb and flow of a feeling

with dragon’s breath in every exhale

a burn worthy of a timeworn myth

ablaze through generations

as I turn unforgiving flowers to ash in my blood

one remains intact

so I dance barefoot upon the embers of the past

indulging in my hippity hops within this disco inferno

I allow the Almighty OUCH! its touch

and gently mellows this sea of flames

as Nero and Neptune go nose-to-nose

for once, I decline the invitation to eagerly burn 

in their crossfire
