Self deception

The maiden

by JanPerry

Come hither young maiden
I knew you well
Your long golden locks
And your shy western brow
Your go to attitude
 your forlorn love
Your stress-free lifestyle
heavens above

When he left you at the
alter, you gave a second chance
to the next forbidden suitor
A sweetly smiled glance
A new dangerous alliance
forbidden midnight love
he left you alone to
live your own dance

With no one to turn to
you turned upon yourself
life's sadest illusion
a sex fulfilling prophesy
with no future or soul
you turned away the others
to reach your inner goals

A goal mixed with loathing
you wander the streets
Strangers stare straight
past you, you'll never meet
Strangers look right through
you, as you play their silly games
with no hope for humanity
you lost your life too soon
