My Gray Cat

by mermaids

grief holds me tight

like being wrapped 
in a solemn rug
 
but my gray cat
sits on my lap
demanding affection
 
my sadness, lowness
dissolve into the 
feline world of companionship
 
chasing melancholy away
his rotund, large body
sinks into me as
we sit together
 
I sing, he purrs
invisible angels fly
as we enter a
realm of happiness

I am owned by a large, gray cat. Puma loves to sit on my lap and cuddle. He is a great help in cheering me up. He is sixteen years old but doing very well for an old boy. I am unable to upload a picture of him, for some reason my computer will not upload pics.
