"YOU DIDN'T PUT ON THE CHAINS???"
In anger, Mick pushes the speed to 70 mph around poorly banked curves on the deserted Vermont highway. Moonlight-sparkled white caps of snow laps fence rails. Brakes lock on black ice on a hairpin turn. The chassis reverberates from impact with something solid and Mick struggles to control the skid.
"NOW, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE???"
Trudging through knee-deep snow, Mick is surprised when Loretta grabs his arm for support. Panic-filled eyes meet, then stare at a ragged path of footprints into the black velvet night of the woods.
"How're we going to handle this?"
