Comfortably Numb
by Gypsy Blue Rose
nothing makes sense anymore
and my only friend is Death standing at the end of my bed I'm grateful for his company and I feel comfortably numb as we both bask in silence on our way to the end we pass a school playground bursting with children's laughter then we watch the sun set over golden fields of barley

"Comfortably Numb" is the title of a Pink Floyd's song. The song's melancholic melody and emotive lyrics speak to the struggles of addiction, depression, and emotional numbness.
inspired by Emily Dickinson's "Because I Could Not Stop for Death"
Because I could not stop for Death
He kindly stopped for me
The Carriage held but just Ourselves
And Immortality.
We slowly drove - He knew no haste
And I had put away
My labor and my leisure too,
For His Civility
We passed the School, where Children strove
At Recess in the Ring
We passed the Fields of Gazing Grain
We passed the Setting Sun
Or rather He passed us
The Dews drew quivering and chill
For only Gossamer, my Gown
My Tipp only Tulle
We paused before a House that seemed
A Swelling of the Ground
The Roof was scarcely visible
The Cornice in the Ground
Since then is Centuries and yet
Feels shorter than the Day
I first surmised the Horses Heads
Were toward Eternity
Thank you very much for reading and reviewing my poem
