Valentine's Day Poem

My Aorta

by mermaids

I love my aorta
she is the engine
of my body
but the heart
of my soul

she pumps that
blood-filled
oxygen
that inhabits
every breath

Happy V-Day
old girl
keep ticking
you're special,
today I eat
salad and grapes
your tasty
treat to keep you
alive

beat fondly,
beat steady,
together as one
we embrace life
