The Blunder

The yellow school bus’s flashing lights halted traffic. The door opened and I stumbled aboard. Bleary-eyed, I took the first vacant seat I saw beside a brown-haired girl in a plaid skirt.
“What are you doing on this bus?” she hooted.
Other passengers around us laughed.
“We’re going to Bethlehem Academy,” she said. “An all-girls school. You caught the wrong bus.”
I groaned.
“I’m Lily.” She was grinning.
“Tony.” I grinned too. She was very pretty.
“Driver, stop the bus!” she shouted. Then she handed me a note.
“My phone number. Another blunder if you don’t call me.”
I did.
