Darkness Inside and Out

It is not just a dark sky at night or heavy rain
it is being in a bad place again and again
walking blindly where you have little control
dealing with people who know it all
or do they?

It's experiencing grief or loss
or people who like to boss
it's picking yourself up to start again
or sipping a scotch to ease the pain
darkness inside and out

suddenly it is early dawn
a glorious sight to look upon
rising above the colourless grey
to fight the demon come what may
and finally succeed
