Every morning as the sun comes up,

I turn on the daily news.

While drinking my hot

Snarling cup of coffee,

Contemplating the state of the world.

Watching the endless gloom and doom,

I am soon overwhelmed by it all

I feel the blues washing over me.

As I am filled with infinite sadness,

And incipient madness,

And impotent rage burning up.

Watching the world burns,

Watching the politicians lying.

Doing nothing to stop

The carnage in the streets

Or combat climate change.

But they instead play

Endless cynical blame games

Offering useless prayers.

To the gun ghosts.

The climate change ghosts.

The fire ghosts.

The war ghosts overseas.

Consumed with this sadness,

Incipient madness,

Burning impotent rage,

I turn off the TV.

Listening to the blues

Wash over me.

Soon my good mood

Improves.

As I look at my wife,

The love of my life

And realize,

Everything will be fine

As long

As we have each other.

The infinite sadness,

The incipient madness,

the impotent rage,

goes away.

Soon replaced with

Infinite love.
