A chapter in the book Aiona's Poems

Disconnected

by Aiona

My phone got lost sometime today

While shoveling out the driveway;

Lost in that snow

With still more to go.

I decided to stop for the day.

Inside, I tried to get warm

Hot cocoa worked, just like a charm.

No phone to call

Any friends at all

I handled my loss with aplomb.

"At least I've got TV to view."

Then I learned my remote was lost too.

When the power went down

From fallen trees all around

I switched gears then to salvaging food.

With my fireplace now roaring with heat,

I roasted some weenies to eat.

Made some s'mores for dessert

Ate them all 'til I hurt

Then headed to bed feeling beat.

I could have felt sad with no phone,

But I tried not to gripe or to groan.

Instead, curled up in bed

With a book I've not read,

I savored some "Me-Time" alone.

Solitude contest entry

It was supposed to snow today, but.... it hasn't yet! I'm ready though.

I really have dropped my cellphone in a snow drift after shoveling the driveway. Luckily somehow my son found it.
