Happy New Year 2024

Happy New Year darling,
We're apart, that's true
But through my tears, and all these years,
I celebrate with you

Holidays are joyful
There's always something new
But every day's a holiday,
When I'm near to you

The lights on my tree
I wish you could see
I wish this every day...
Logs on the fire
Fill me with desire
to see you and to say:
That "I wish you Blessed Yuletide,
Happy New Year too,

I've just one wish on this New Year's Day-
I wish I were with you; I wish I were with you...

Happy New Year! Happy New Year...darling!"

I composed this poem last year on New Year's morning. It was inspired by the Carpenters' "Merry Christmas Darling," and can be sung with that melody. I think of my son - I haven't seen him since he was a toddler. Now he's in his 30s, and I don't receive any news of him.
