A chapter in the book 2023 Gypsy's Free Verse
Slipping Over the Edge of Sleep
by Gypsy Blue Rose
slipping over the edge of sleep,
I hold on to memories of our last day together as the sunset is loitering dying shadows of gold and red on empty streets floods of yearning engulf me
and your uncommitted presence
can't quench my passion because your lying eyes tell me all I need to know about your selfish soul and my eyes full of longing drown in memories of our love knowing you will never return as your touch echoes on my skin tangled with dying embers
