Now in our home forlornly stands
a once so proud majestic fir.
Stripped bare of all her finery,
we reverently undress her.

Treasured trinkets removed with care
made by small hands that hold our hearts.
Each one a prized and priceless jewel,
a beloved work of art.

Ornaments of red, green and gold,
gleaming garland, bright strings of light.
Memories gently packed away
'till next Christmas Eve night.

Needles once so soft and supple,
brittle now they prick our fingers.
Oh Yuletide tree, though sadly fading,
your stunning beauty lingers.
