The Entertainer

by Ian Stuart

Entertainer

The Man with Big Balls

sits in a corner

sipping his Earl Grey,

and eyeing a croissant.

He is waiting for the square to fill up.

Later, he will go outside

to the van,

take out his balls -

one chest high, one

tall as a child– and

start the show.

Atlas reversed

he spins the globe

beneath his feet,

twirls a blue moon

at his finger ends

to  a blur

faster and faster

tlll the crowd shivers,

splinters into applause

Back in his corner,

sipping an Earl Grey,

he brushes croissant crumbs

from his T shirt,

watches the world turn
