My lottery win
In a Debt of Gratitude
by jmdg1954
Last night at the conclusion of Monday Night Football, I logged onto FanStory only to find a pleasant surprise. There were ten reviews sitting in my que. TEN.
I shook my head side to side. Impossible. No way. There’s got to be something wrong.
I’m sitting and staring at “•10 Reviews”on the header bar. I hadn’t posted in about one week and those posts have pretty much gone through the review cycle.
Sure, two or three more reviews at random is always a possibility. But not ten since I was last signed on maybe three hours earlier. No way! Something had to be adrift, off the beaten path.
After accessing the review prompt and doing a quick scan, the reviews were legit! All different stories from one reader/reviewer. That’s correct, one reviewer.
For some reason, this person (who we all know and love) took a deep dive into my portfolio. Was it my contest win with my entry, “The Makeover” that prompted this? I don’t know. I’ve been reviewed by this writer many times in the past.
This is a prime example of the people here on FanStory who elevate this platform…
FanStory is the moat to the castle which lodges us plethora of writers (yea, I just made that one up).
Over time, posts and reviews, we have developed a friendship, a camaraderie of sorts amongst each other. Their are many which are stronger the others, but I truly feel we are a family unit just the same.
This reviewer not only went back ten-twelve years in my profile, but took the time to read and review these pieces that only paid two cents. Even better then the ten reviews I received, this person reviewed posts which were one review short of the All Time Best status.
Today my message board was filled with the all time best status notification.
No one has ever done something like this for me. I feel like I hit the lottery. I’m in a debt of gratitude to this person. This reviewer in my mind has earned the “Reviewer of the Month” award!
Oh by the way, this anonymous, unsung benevolent reviewer … starts with “k” and ends in “nina”.
