Looking outward, seeing inward

by JLR

Yet again, I look outward and see troubled souls
at mass inhumanity that evil controls.
Hatred baked like handmade bricks in the sun
Not a soul remembers when this hate had begun.

I search inward for what little I can do.
Taking no action feels like something is askew.
A large number of people, I know, do pray,
but a larger number say this terror is hearsay.

I look outward and see evil powers stirring hot coal.
Fueling embers, stoking a firestorm for simple control.
The threat of nuclear weapons in these evil hands
could turn the Middle East into melted glass in the sand.

I look inward through the eye of my heart,
knowing God will allow mankind to fall apart
But seekers, believers, do not wring your hands
we are all promised a return to God's Homeland.
