Today's Philosophy

by Claire Tennant

Get a dog give it a home he or she will treat you as their own.

In giving you gain a mate, you become master of his fate

eyes that watch you when you cry, licking the tears by and by

If like ours the dog is small, plenty of cuddles after all

he or she asks that you feed provide a bed, too, you will succeed

but woe betide your enemy, the woofer will never set him free

Dogs, if treated well, will guard your home by sense of smell

but if someone rings the bell, the woofer creates a merry hell

Our little one is called Zack he always has your back

He and Daddy are great mates together, havoc create

Life would be tough indeed without a dog to love and feed

Oh, reader, can you not see the proud mum in me?

And that, my friends, is in essence, my philosophy

Love is always the key, to open your heart and set you free

Family member, friend or dog, their love and support clear the fog

It may not win today’s award but will set the right chord
