That Fist Butiful Drink

The Drink Poetry Contest Winner 
 
I saw a prompt and said "Why not,
pehaps I'll win or place,
and get at least my five bucks back.
Should I reserve a space?"

While hesitant, I poured a drink,
a stiff one I might add.
A vodka blend with flavored mix.
The first one that I had.

I took a giant, massive swig
then did a needed chore.
The whole time thinking what to write
the masses might adore.

The vodka shot then changed my heart,
I felt it all unfold.
My mind unveiled an inner truth,
and yes, that truth was cold.

It mattered not what words I wrote,
they'd shatter into shards,
where voters only vote for things
you find in Hallmark cards.

I felt my inner muse collapse
and wither to its core.
Instead of wasting my five bucks...
I simply drank some more.
