Excellent
Not yet exceptional. When the exceptional rating is reached this is highlighted
A tribute to a special lady

Remembering Kathleen

by Claire Tennant

You were the 'Grandma' figure we needed when ours was not there
You were called Aunty and reached out to us with tender care
Our mother's 'Aussie' Mum; together, drank coffee by the ton
Your cheesecakes were fully yum
Anything you cooked likewise

You came across as mild and meek
You encouraged me when I felt weak
Or if life's experiences were bleak
Causing tears down my cheek
Coffee cake and music, the answer

You encouraged my love for our new home
Of scenic pastures. where I could roam
Under the guise of a good book
The Billabong series, my cosy nook
My love for Australia developed

Now it is my turn to be the aunt
Whose love for nieces is blatant
Your virtues I try to emulate
Sometimes, a trick of fate
Always remembered fondly

I miss this lady so much. I refer to the Billabong Series written by Mary Grant Bruce.
