Fern, Sweet Faerie

by Susanjohn

Seemed no one knew why Fern's soft lullaby
ignited Heaven's brilliant stars each night;
nor, how her sweet kiss 'pon white fleur-de-lys
urged blossoms rise beneath rays, golden bright.
Fern’s whimsical dance (pleasing happenstance),
stirred Nature’s
likings, whether near or far.
Unified as one, Earth and Heaven spun
'round Fern’s enchanted music repertoire.

Yet, jealousy rules 'mongst mean-hearted fools …
mere differences now, perceived as a threat.
Town's people, daresay, cast Fern far away;
oh, how harsh judgment harbors deep regret.
Dark, ominous clouds hovering in shrouds,
as looming will-o’-the-wisps settle in.
Green meadows turned dry prompt a windblown cry,
’til misery’s engulfed this wretched din.

In faraway lands, Fern welcomes new hands,
applauding such joy lithe faerie steps bring.
At ease, settles down with spark’ling new crown …
her old town falls like a sad, broken wing.
Humanity’s fate, if learned far too late,
will never flourish where dire hatred grows.
Let's walk hand 'n hand, o’er shared motherland,
until peace, kindness, and true wisdom flows.
