Thanksgiving gratitude

On Thanksgiving Day

in the United States

and Canada

people gather

with family and friends

and express Thanks

and gratitude

and for the older folks

thanks for still being around

Saying that

We are grateful
For the little things
In life

For the memories
for the food
that we will enjoy
on this day of giving thanks

and on Thanksgiving day

I often think back

and give thanks

for my mother

and my father

who raised me

to be the man

that I am

and especially to my Mom

who installed in me

a life-long love of reading

and writing

I will be forever grateful

to them

wherever they happen

to be
