A Rondeau

Watch Fall Switch Now

by RodG

Watch Fall switch now to Winter’s guise

as haze replaces bright blue skies.

A gray-brown hue have all the hills,

the nearby fields a farmer tills,

and yonder where the Blue Ridge rise.

Just listen to those honking cries

of south-bound geese, their long goodbyes—

so haunting that they give me chills.

Watch Fall switch now.

The change is swift I realize,

but I won’t try to eulogize

this Fall despite its many thrills,

nor censure Winter for its kills.

My purpose just to emphasize:

Watch Fall switch now.
