Our Cosmic Family

by JLR

Climbing upon yonder hilltop
with the sun sinking west nonstop
they perch reposed on granite rocks.
While gazing at the old grey fox standing fullstop.

Twilight cedes to the black of night.
The stars emerge on high so bright
a twinkle here, a shimmer there.
Setting firm that jaw-dropping stare at this blessed sight.

The grey fox eyes were quite aglow.
While it, too, gazed up at this show.
Assured our bond was intended.
As if our spirits had blended ages ago.

Starry night! What secrets we shared.
seemingly co-joined, our souls bared
At such infinite immenseness,
pulled outward into this denseness so unprepared.

THE FLORETTE was created by Jan Turner and consists of two or more 4-line stanzas.
Rhyme scheme: a,a,b,a
Syllable count: 8,8,8,12
*Please, the Fourth line has an internal (b) rhyme on syllable 8. Line 4 requires an internal rhyme scheme that rhymes the eighth syllable with the end of line 3.
It then continues to add on four more syllables than the other lines so that the fourth line ends rhyming with lines 1 and 2.
