poem about depression

Deep Depression

It began with self-doubt
 new job made him feel inapt
over time he failed to adapt.

Deflated, demotivated
he stopped hanging out.

Disheartened
his mood darkened
and soon he yielded to despair.
He felt like a hare in a snare
found no comfort in prayer.

Feeling hopeless, he slid into depression.
 Depleted, defeated
 Darkness engulfed his soul

Drowning in waves of loneliness
 in a moment of weakness
Death seemed an act of kindness,
two deep slashes to stop that
sense of emptiness.
